On June 7, 2018, the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava (UEBA), Mr. Ferdinand Daňo signed a memorandum of understanding with Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SIUBE) in Shanghai. The UEBA delegation was welcomed by SIUBE’s President, prof. Guohong Zhu. The meeting was attended by Ms. Nannan Zou, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ms. Lingjie Dai, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, and prof. Che Chunli, specialized in Central and Eastern Europe, who has already collaborated with the UEBA’s faculty. Cooperation was topic of the meeting. SIUBE offers multiple joint degree programmes with universities in Australia, UK, Canada and Germany, and is being involved in a number of important research projects. Both parties stressed that the potential for cooperation is great thanks to the analogous structure of both institutions.

On April 11, 2018, the scientific team of the running EDGE – Environmental Diplomacy and Geopolitics project held a special session Politics of environmental changes: mapping the interactions between migration, territories and natural resources within the AAG 2018 congress in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Despite the early scheduled time for the session, the presentations brought attention of conference attendants. The annual meeting of the American Association of Geographers is one of the world’s biggest scientific events hosting regularly more than 9,000 scholars of different backgrounds.

On June 5, 2018, the Rector of the UEBA prof. Ferdinand Daňo welcomed at her own request the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Slovakia, H. E. Yamila Sonia Pita Montes. Dr. Mario Manuel Ares Sánchez from the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education was also present at the meeting.

On May 16, 2018, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovenia to Slovakia, H.E. Mr. Gregor Kozovinc, visited on his own request the UEBA’s Rector, prof. Ferdinand Daňo. The subject of the meeting was academic cooperation with Slovenian universities. Mr. Boris Mattoš, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, informed the guest on the UEBA’s international cooperation.

Dnešná moderná doba spolu s technickou revolúciou prináša so sebou úplne iný spôsob života ako to bolo v minulosti. Nové informácie napredujú neuveriteľným tempom a vďaka internetu a počítačovým technológiám sa k nám dostávajú veľmi rýchlo. Čo platilo včera, nemusí platiť dnes. Ubudlo manuálnej práce, životné tempo ľudí sa zrýchľuje.

On April 24, 2018, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Slovakia, H.E. Mr. Nearchos Palas visited the University of Economics in Bratislava. In the final lecture of the 23rdedition of the course Diplomacy in Practice, he focused on current challenges in the European Union as well as the aspects determining the situation in the Mediterranean: the situation in Syria, migration, terrorism and energy politics. 

On the occasion of the 5th IBSM conference "Business Management and Accounting", co-organized by the Faculty of Commerce in Bratislava in cooperation with the Hanoi University of Industry, Trisakti University, Jakarta and the University of Social Sciences in Warszaw, the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, Mr. Ferdinand Daňo, and members of the scientific and organizational committee of the conference, Mr. Peter Drábik and Ms. Paulína Krnáčová, visited from April 17 to 22 2018, the capital of Vietnam – Hanoi. On this occasion, they had several important meetings.

On April 17, 2018, the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Slovakia, H.E. Ms. Maria Louisa MARINAKIS, gave a lecture at the course Diplomacy in Practice. Mr. Boris MATTOŠ, the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Ms. Andrea VALACHOVÁ, the Vice-Dean for Foreign Relations and Public Relations at the NHF UEBA informed the guest about the cooperation of the UEBA with the universities in Greece. A student from the University of Macedonia currently interning at the Greek Embassy in Bratislava attended the meeting too.
