I. degree
Graduates of the study programme Economic Theory and Economic Journalism have a knowledge of general economic basics linked with computer and language literacy, social, moral and legal aspects needed in a broad spectrum of economic expertise, as well as specific expert knowledge, abilities and skills applicable in the field of mass communication and will be able to analyze and understand ongoing economic processes in macro and micro spheres, assess theoretical and practical issues at different levels of national economy in state and local administration, in public and private institutions, in the field of international economic relations and will be ready to present this knowledge by means of mass media. Graduates will be prepared to continue the study of a second degree study programme in economics and after graduation – the following doctoral study, or immediately entry the labour market, find employment in all forms of mass media as economic editors, speakers, analysts, as well as in all kinds of companies, enterprises, organizations and institutions in the public and private sector.
Economics and Law

Joint study programme Economics and Law is new in the field of educational services in the Slovak Republic. Graduates learn not only about general economic basics, but also get adequately thorough legal training and acquire legal methods on application of the economic knowledge in the economic life management. Graduates with legal and economic education are successfully working in different fields of national economy and management structures at all levels – enterprises, offices, banks and other financial institutions, central authorities of state administration, in national and international companies. Graduates learn to analyze and understand ongoing economic and legal processes in macro and micro spheres, assess theoretical and practical issues at different levels of national economy in state and local administration, in public and private institutions, in the field of international relations; they manage to understand issues related to the content and procedures legal practice has to deal with, know basics for providing legal advice in the field of administrative law and partially civil and commercial law; effectively process and use information from specialized and scientific literature, know how to work with case law and are instructed to absorb the newest knowledge and trends of the present development in the field of economy and law. Graduates are capable of working at different positions in state and local administration, financial institutions, as well as independent enterprises.
Finance, Banking and Investment
I. degree
Aim of the study programme Finance, Banking and Investment is to prepare both theoretically and practically erudite experts who are able to analyze and solve simpler decision-making situations in the field of finances, banking and investment. The study programme provides basic general knowledge of sciences dealing with national economy and business economics. Graduates of this study programme are capable of serving in lower management functions in state and local administration units focused on finances and enterprises. They are also able to find special employment in financial institutions, banks and in financial intermediation.
Human Resources and Social Management
I. degree
Graduates of the study programme human resources and social management gain theoretical as well as practical skills in sciences researching national economy at compulsory and optional courses focused on economy, economic policy, human resources development, labour market and employment policy, social security, and also finances, insurance industry, taxation with emphasis put on acquiring necessary knowledge, skills and attitude for working for different social organizations and institutions. They acquire knowledge in active social policy, but also experience in drawing up a specific social project, applied in practice, but they mainly gain managerial skills required on national and European labour market. They are capable to apply new methods of working with people and shape professional competences of people at individual, organizational, national and transnational level; they will be able to use specific tools of economic and social policy and also perceive the connection between these policies when solving problems of socio-economic character. Graduates will acquire compact complex of professional competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) required for work in different job positions, e.g. of research and political character in international institutions focused on socio-economic fields, in state administrative (at all levels), in trade unions (at all levels), institutions of scientific research focusing on socio-economic issues, in state, private and religious educational institutions and organizations and institutions of a non-profit character.
National Economy

Graduates of the study programme National Economy get a university education that develops economic thinking and provides theoretical and practical knowledge in economic theories, economic policy, accounting, statistics and informatics. Graduates are ready for entering the labour market or continue further education in their field. They know how to analyze basic economic issues at different levels of national economy, are able to assess the possibility of using individual tools of economic, social and financial policy. Having adequate knowledge in economic policy, they manage to participate in the preparation and processing of materials for decision-making processes of bodies at different levels of management. Graduates employ as officers for central and other state and local administration bodies and also business sphere where they are prepared to take necessary decisions and implement them while solving issues of economic practice.
Insurance

Graduates of the study programme Insurance are able to analyze simple economic situations in an insurance company and take simple management decisions. Graduates of the first degree of the university study in the study programme insurance obtain theoretical knowledge in general economic theory, economic policy, social policy, banking, insurance industry, taxation, functioning of financial markets, general, financial or insurance mathematics, accounting and statistics, business economy, finances and management, marketing, trade and law. Moreover, they will also gain knowledge in insurance risks, insurance companies marketing, and history of insurance or life insurance. On the basis of theoretical knowledge, they gain competence and skills for analyzing simple links in economic processes in an insurance company, taking simple management decisions and serve in lower and middle economic management posts accordingly.
Public Administration and Regional Development
I. degree
Graduates of the study programme Public Administration and Regional Development analyze and interpret issues related to public administration performance primarily in the field of regional development support at national, regional and local level. They use knowledge on the field of economic theory and policy making, theory of management and organisation of public administration, public sector and regional development. They can work as expert officers in local (municipalities) and regional administration bodies (self governed regions), in related departments in state administration offices at national level (Ministry of Transport, Construction and regional development of the Slovak Republic, Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic, Ministry of Finances of the Slovak Republic, Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, Government Office of the Slovak Republic and the like) and specialized agencies. Graduates can also work as experts on projects financed primarily by structural funds of the EU focused on regional development in business and non-profit area. Having higher computer literacy, graduates actively use information and communications technologies. Ready to work in team, they present their views and discuss them independently.
Banking

Graduates of the study programme Banking are experts having knowledge in banking, financial markets, monetary policy and international finances. They manage to independently solve interdisciplinary issues, systematize, analyze and make informed decisions on methodical, theoretical, practical and conceptual questions concerning institutions and processes in banking and on financial market at different levels of management, administration and business, even in international scope. Graduates can work in international institutions, banks, stock markets, in the field of capital market, central banking and also for businesses with international financial activities.
Taxation and Tax Consulting

During their study, students of the study programme Taxation and Tax Consulting acquire necessary knowledge in taxation and tax consulting (direct tax, tax on consumption, tax theory and policy, tax systems of the EU member states, international taxation, tax analysis, tax administration, tax consulting). After graduation, they are competent to work as tax analysts and consultants, address issues related to tax administration and performance of tax administrators, as well as analyze development of tax policy with respect to harmonizing tax processes in Europe and the world. Graduates can also work as experts on tax matters for tax authorities and directorates for taxation, for companies focused on tax consulting and audit, as well as for private financial businesses.
Economic Theory and Economic Journalism

By means of engineering study, wide offer of theoretical, specialized and specific courses, as well as independent solving of practical tasks, case studies and projects, graduates of the study programme Economic Theory and Economic Journalism gain theoretical and methodological knowledge in key areas of macroeconomics and microeconomics, current trends in the development of national and world economy under conditions of the knowledge based economy and globalization processes, new dimensions of economic thinking, as well as theoretical knowledge and practical experience and skills in the field of information media. After obtaining the degree of this study programme, graduates can work either in the economic research area as university teachers, in state administrative, central institutions, transnational and international organizations requiring deep theoretical focus and analytical skills, or as leading experts in mass communication, but also in public and private sector in Slovakia and abroad.
Finance

The aim of the study programme Finances is to educate theoretically and practically qualified experts able to analyze, anticipate risk and cope with difficult decision-making situations in the area of both public finances and finances of businesses. Studying this programme, students learn about financial risks, theory of capital structure, financial analyses and prognoses, international finances and commercial banks operations. Study programme is being shaped by specialized knowledge students acquire in the field of financial policy, financial control and financial accounts, tax policy, financing of local authorities and public finances management. Graduates are ready to work in middle and top management positions in state administrative offices, local authorities and companies active in financial sphere. They also find employment in financial institutions, banks and financial intermediation.
Economic Policy

Graduates of the study programme Economic Policy deepen their knowledge with emphasis on current trends in the development of the world economy – globalization and integration and current issues of the economic policy of the EU. During their study, students gain comprehensive knowledge in modern economic theories, econometrics, as well as methods of economic analysis and prognosis, they are prepared to analyze and specify problems at different levels of national economy and also state and local administration authorities and businesses. Graduates of this study programme find employment as national economy analysts at different levels of state administration in non-financial as well as financial businesses, in national and multinational companies, in research, universities, editorial offices and in range of other mass media institutions.
International Finance (Taught in English)

Completing the study programme International Finance, graduates gain the ability to critically discuss various issues of theories used in different context for the sake of promoting effective decisions in international finances. They manage to solve interdisciplinary issues, systematize, analyze and make informed decisions on practical and conceptual questions concerning institutions and processes in international scope on their own. The study programme is practically oriented, improves skills and practice which are relevant and mostly appreciated by employers. A possibility to spend the 4th semester of study at respected university in the Great Britain or in the United States of America broadens the international dimension of the study graduates will make use of in contemporary globally interconnected intercultural working environment.
Insurance

Graduates of the study programme Insurance are prepared to comprehensively manage conceptual work in insurance company and decide on activities in the field of insurance. They are competent in making decisions on economic activities of insurance companies, they are able to carry out supervision over insurance institutions and conduct research in all financial market institutions. Graduates have deep command of theory and practice of insurance, life and non-life insurance, economic activities carried out in insurance companies and therefore improve their ability to solve specific problems, decide independently and manage team of workers in this field. Graduates are able to creatively apply the acquired knowledge in practice in insurance company or on financial market, in analytical or conceptual work, in performing managerial duties; they propose and implement new insurance methods and techniques.
Social Development and Social Policy

Graduates of the study programme Social Development and Social Policy obtain deep theoretical knowledge and primarily practical skills. Graduates have the ability to identify and analyze socio-economic phenomena in the society, identify their causes and consequences and are well versed in solving issues based on capacities in knowledge management, global social inequality, European social systems, social economy, health policy, housing policy, social work, quality of life, project-making methodology, labour law. The study programme educates experts in the socio-economic field with a perspective to employ on national and European labour market in public and private sector institutions, in social and health insurance companies, in central state and local administration authorities, as well as in international institutions. Graduates are also familiar with the structural funds issues and are capable of pursuing knowledge and learning new information on social and economic policy.
Public Administration and Regional Development

Graduates of the study programme Public Administration and Regional Development is able to systematize, analyze and solve problems related to the performance of public administration duties particularly in the area of regional development at national, regional and local level. They actively use knowledge in the field of economic theory and policy making, theory of management and organization of public administration, public sector and regional development. They are capable of managing development project in the stage of analysis, financial programming and budgeting, implementation and impact assessment. I. degree
Graduates of the study programme International Business have theoretical and practical knowledge concerning international business, particularly in the field of business economy, finances, marketing, entrepreneurship, commercial law and operations on foreign markets; ability to use quantitative methods, IT and foreign language skills enable them to successfully work as executives or managers in particular business. They find employment as members of management teams at middle management level in organizations involved in international business and foreign trade activities. Graduates of the study programme manage to analyze issues and possibilities in business activities of various types of enterprises – manufacturing plants, trading and service companies, propose and implement solutions for optimal functioning of businesses. Graduates of the study programme also have knowledge of corporate economy, corporate finances, European and international economic law and business services.
Business in Tourism and Services

Graduates of the study programme Business in Tourism and Services can analyze problems and opportunities in the business activities of tourist enterprises and services, to propose solutions for the optimal functioning of business entities and to implement them in practice. Graduates also have knowledge of business economics, business finance, business management, and particularly of tourism and services. The graduates of the study programme are qualified in technology of tourism/ technology expert ready to carry out basic and middle management practice in business and tourist companies and organizations. They are capable to organise and manage business processes, to create innovative tourist products, they possess professional skills in using information technology and intelligent systems in tourist services, they can lead teams, they have management and marketing skills for self-employment in services of tourism. They can work in the sector of tourism and services in national businesses, as well as in the foreign market and in organizations dealing with the development of tourism.
Business in Trade

Graduates of the study programme Business in Trade can identify and analyze problems and opportunities in the business activities of different types of small and medium-sized enterprises, in business operations and the functioning of family businesses, to propose solutions for the optimal functioning of business entities and implement them in business practice. Graduates acquire knowledge of ways for working with managers and professionals of other professions, which also requires knowledge in psychology, communication and information systems. Graduates of the study programme will also acquire knowledge of marketing, business economics, business finance, business management and especially, business activities and the fundamentals of interdisciplinary application of business processes. Graduates of the study programme will be able to become founders of small and medium-sized enterprises in manufacturing, family business, or business (distribution) services that they can also set up during their studies. In an employment relationship they can be working as middle management at marketing and sales departments or as sales representatives in different types of businesses.
Tourism Management

Graduates of the Tourism Management study programme are qualified tourism managers who can manage business and national economic processes in tourism. They gain knowledge of the economy of tourism, industry controlling, tourism management and marketing, tourism law, integration processes in tourism as well as management communications. They are qualified to work as managers of a business or tourist region. They will be able to work on the middle and top levels of tourism management, regional tourism organizations, government and self-governing organizations in tourism, project planning and consulting organizations in tourism and regional development. The tourism manager on the company and regional level of tourism is in control of the management methods and has the appropriate skills, capabilities and the ability to apply them in practice on the level of the company, business integration and tourist region, in the public administration and self-governing bodies in the sector of tourism. They monitor the principles of sustainable development in tourism. They recognize natural and anthropogenic environment in which tourism is developing. They know how to use electronic media for information management, for the promotion and sale of tourism services. They know how to create and manage tourism development projects in destination locations and regions. They can also actively work in an intercultural environment.
International Trade Management

Graduates of the International Trade Management programme acquire knowledge that provides the prerequisites for successful mastering the complexity of general knowledge of international trade, strategies and tactics of international business, international marketing, as well as the trends of the development of specific international commodity markets. Graduates of the study programme are universally educated managers with comprehensive high-level knowledge of multicultural environment, with the prerequisites for successful management of senior management positions in the corporate sector, selected governmental institutions involved in international economic cooperation (especially in the foreign trade policy) international economic organizations and EU institutions. Graduates of the study programme are highly qualified economic experts, able to analyze, evaluate and creatively address alternative ways of organizing and managing international logistic systems. Also, an important part of the successful application of graduates of this department in practice is their preparation to handle specific foreign trade (commercial) internship depending on the scope of activity and commodity that is the subject of the practical working exchange, i.e. their preparation in foreign trade techniques, international payment and financial operations, as well as familiarization with the conditions of national and foreign legislation and legal regulations.
Marketing and Trade Management

Graduates of the study programme Marketing and Business Management gain deep insights into the use of marketing tools and the development of marketing concepts as well as management of business systems. They can specify, design and implement complex solutions for all components of the marketing mix and manage a wide network of external sources of suppliers, customers, end customers, intermediaries, service companies, as well as manage business processes in terms of adapting to the marketing environment. They are employed in the positions of marketing managers, marketing analysts, marketing communication specialists who manage the processes of changes in technology, company culture, intra-company and inter-company relationships in a market-based relationship. Significant opportunities for graduates to apply include positions of purchasing managers, sales managers, product managers, business specialists, consumer policy, and distribution. The graduates of the study programme can analyze and evaluate the complex problems of marketing management, to design and implement forms of various marketing elements according to the latest knowledge of marketing theory, to assess the interaction of market participants with a complex marketing environment.

The goal of the students' education in the study programme Marketing and Business Management is to prepare specialists in the complex and specialized fields of Trade and Marketing, which are the basis for shifting the limits of theoretical and research understanding of the discipline. Students have a command of scientific methods of research in the marketing environment, market data, consumer behaviour and business subjects; they exercise control over methods of simulation and verification of marketing solutions; they can apply scientific procedures in processes of optimal formation of marketing functions, marketing processes and marketing tools of business subjects. Students can synthesize information autonomously / views of marketing research and propose solutions to problems that extend or redefine existing knowledge and represent new approaches to address new business systems. The Graduates are capable of:
- successful, accurate and efficient application of scientific research methods and presentation of own solutions / critical evaluation positions in business and marketing processes,
- bonding: research - formulation proposal– implementation of legal and ethical aspects of marketing,
- setting up ways to isolate, evaluate and resolve issues of different levels of predictions in the trade.
International Business Management

The goal of students' education in the International Business Management programme is to prepare graduates for a highly specialized career in the sphere of institutions, companies and multinational corporations in the international business environment. They can also find carreer opportunities in the field of scientific work at universities, research teams or in the activities of various social and public organizations. The content and its objectives are a programme aimed at exploring development trends in the international economic environment, concentrating on specific growth conditions in the EU, as well as in Slovak republic, and to study the development in other territorial segments of the world economy. The real fact that the Slovak economy is foreign trade oriented creates a specific environment for scientific research and forms acritical degree of importance of the economic bonds and the tendencies that rise in this area. Economic Informatics
I. degree
Graduates of the study programme Economic Informatics in the field of Economic Informatics will acquire comprehensive knowledge of economic theory and concrete experience in working with computer technology. They will be able to work with standard office automation software, to participate in programme implementation, and to run information systems in economic objects on all levels of management. They gain knowledge in the business by being able to deal with the company's establishment plans as well as its operation and further development. They gain basic knowledge of economic processes on different levels of management. The graduates are employed in all industries, in public administration, in the private sphere, but also as independent entrepreneurs. The study programme prepares professionals who have good economic knowledge, control computer technology and who can use modern information technologies.
Managerial Decision-Making
I. degree
Graduates of the study programme Decision-making in Management can solve basic economic problems arising in respective departments of the manufacturing company, commercial and financial organisations (including insurance companies), profit and non-profit institutions. Graduates have acquired principles and methods of teamwork, knowledge of business, organisations, management, and macroeconomic contexts and the interactions of micro- and macro-spheres. Graduates can prepare documentation for managers by processing available information (databases) using mathematical and statistical methods for intensive PC use. Graduates of the Decision-making in management and Information Technology study programme are able to obtain the necessary information for basic economic analyses, to use mathematical-statistical analytical tools, economically interpret the results achieved and implement them in practice.
Accounting
I. degree
Graduates of the first grade of the study programme Accounting have knowledge of economic theory and business management, which is the basis of the theory of economic disciplines and in which they acquire basic economic concepts and relationships. They also have knowledge of law, management, marketing, taxation, control of mathematics and statistics to the extent that they use the work of an independent accountant. The graduate's professional profile consists of knowledge of financial accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis and accounting automation. Graduates of the first grade of the study programme Accounting tend to seek employment in the private sector, both in the public sector and in the public sector in the accounting and automation departments, and, they can solve methodological accounting issues in different types of organizations independently. They are also able to work in tax offices and financial administration. They can solve specific problems in accounting practice.
Actuarial Science

The Actuarial Science study programme provides systematic theoretical and practical knowledge of actuarial mathematics and its applications in life, retirement and insurance, comprehensive theoretical knowledge from probability theory and statistics to the extent necessary in particular for modeling and simulation of risks of non-life insurance, as well as knowledge of financial mathematics, investment, portfolio and bond derivatives theory, as well as the theoretical knowledge of higher mathematics, probability, statistics, and operational research. Attention is paid to computational engineering. Graduates can apply quantitative methods in economics, especially in the insurance and financial sector, they are able to make decisions based on professional analyses using actuarial methods, they are able to solve basic problems of risk management and financial flows of insurance companies, they have skills in the use of computing and in the use of mathematical and statistical programme packages. The study comprises a training mainly for the profession of "actuary" in insurance companies, but the graduates can also pursue their carreer in pension funds and banks.
Information Management

The graduates of the study programme Information Management at the second level of study, based on their acquired knowledge of economic theory, on the use of quantitative methods and knowledge of computing to solve analytical and decision-making economic tasks and business processes will be able to make their carreers in occupations such as solving-problems in production and business companies, banks and insurance companies, stock exchanges, institutions of non-productive sphere, research, institutions of central governing bodies. Its advantage is the combination of economic knowledge, primarily focused on quantitative analyses, as well as software skills, and not only on the use of existing programme products, but also on the creation of their own software systems. Through the digitization of economic processes, they accelerate economic transactions, increase the quality of business, improve the management of economic organisations, multiply the impact of information technology on economic practice and accumulate its consequences. Putting these technologies into business practice requires a collaboration of IT developers and IT managers who create the conditions for resource efficiency. If, on the one hand, narrow specialization and detailed knowledge of information technology is required, on the other hand, engineers with integrated knowledge, specialists able to combine business processes with IT services are needed. IM graduates are economists - computer scientists who have a thorough knowledge of the needs, ways and possibilities of using IT in business practice.
Operations Research and Econometrics

The studies of the 2nd degree of the study programme Operational Research and Econometrics in the field of Quantitative methods in economics deepen the general economic knowledge of the basic study, both in the economic analysis of the national economy and its sectors, as well as in the field of economic analyses on the level of production and non-productive companies. The basis of specialization is a model approach and quantitative methods in the environment of information systems. The second stage study provides systematic knowledge for various stages of the use of methodological mechanism in operational research and econometrics to solve economic problems: from analysis of the problem, through the construction of an economic-mathematical model and the identification of the tasks, the selection of methods towards solving the identified problems, and solving the problems by using an adequate software and verifying the verbal capability in the process of economic decision-making. Based on the acquired knowledge of economic theory and knowledge from the use of quantitative methods and computing techniques, graduates can pursue their professional carreer mainly in manufacturing and trading companies, banks and insurance companies, stock exchanges, top management of various non-productive institutions research, institutions of central governing bodies, etc.
Statistical Methods in Economics

The study programme Statistical Methods in Economics will provide the graduates with methodological knowledge from a wide range of statistical analytical procedures and techniques, as well as knowledge of the possibilities and conditions of their application, especially in economic, social, and in other areas. This highly desirable combination of knowledge creates the prerequisites for its qualitative application in the analysis and modeling complex economic and social causal relationships and the creation of probability-statistical and prognostic models for decision-making and management needs in economic practice. They acquire sufficient skills to use programme analytical statistical systems (SAS, SPSS, Statgraphics ...) that are critical for the application of advanced statistical methods in economic and social analyses. Graduates of the study programme "Statistical Methods in Economics of Science" obtain professional preparation of an expert in economics and statistics which will enable them to work in the administration of national statistic offices, especially in the professions of methodology of statistical indicators, analysts in the field of national economic analyses, regional bodies of national statistic bureaus, practice-oriented institutions, businesses, financial institutions, departments, research institutions and tertiary institutions. They can explicate the results correctly and adequately use them in decision-making processes on different levels of the socio-economic system and within regional structures.
Accounting and Auditing

Graduates of the second-degree study programme Accounting and Auditing have the knowledge of theoretical and methodological problems of subjects in economic science, with a special focus on the field of accounting and financial subjects. They can prepare and use accounting information in financial management in the business and non-business sector under market economy conditions. In addition, graduates of the second grade of the study programme Accounting and Auditing have the knowledge of financial accounting, the knowledge of the bank accounting, insurance companies, budgetary and allowance organisations, municipalities, managerial accounting, tax accounting and international accounting. They also gain knowledge in auditing, consolidated financial statements, international financial management and internal audit. Graduates of engineering studies will be able to pursue their carreers in managing and methodological functions in accounting, in financial decision-making and financial controling, and after obtaining the obligatory practical experience and further follow-up preparation and implementation of the law test, they will be able to carry out auditing activities, tax consultancy and functions in the institutions of financial market.
International Finance Management (in German)

The International Financial Management study programme is provided by the Economic University in Bratislava, in a cooperation with the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg, Germany. The study is conducted in German. The study in the 1st year takes place in the UE in Bratislava, the 2nd year study takes place at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg.

- designing information system in the newly emerging accounting unit and defining the position of the accounting (financial and managerial) as a relatively separate subsystem, responsible for the documents in the management of the accounting unit, for the decision-making and for the purposes of taxation with income tax, VAT, or other tax legislations and drafting internal rules for bookkeeping and financial reporting (regular and consolidated),
- familiarizing with the information system of a functioning business unit of production, business focus, accounting unit of accounting services for other units, auditing services, but also in the information system of the bank, insurance companies, budget, contributory organization, municipality, higher territorial unit, ministries, and performing a leading role in accounting,
- designing a suitable bookkeeping technique as a part of the information system and selecting from the marketplace appropriate software that suits the needs of the entity according to its size, focus and market position in the context of similarly focused accounting units they commercially communicate with,
- keeping current accounting in accordance with the applicable legislation, preparing the financial statements (balance sheet), both in a regular and consolidated manner (if the accounting entity is a parent company) and carrying out a financial analysis of the regular and consolidated financial statements using the accounting documents for the purposes of decision-making management, or for the needs of the owner.
