The Commission of independent international researchers announced winning publications for the 2017 EU in Bratislava Award for best publication. In the category, university textbook Michal Páleš, PhD. was awarded for his Language R in Actuarial Analyzes by ECONOM publishing house. The team of authors, led by Zuzana Brokešová, PhD. receives prize in the category articles in domestic and international journals for the article Comparing a Risky Choice in the Field and across Lab Procedures published in the Journal of Economic Psychology. The award ceremony will be held during the opening ceremony of new academic year 2018/2019.
Twenty-two students from the EU, Switzerland, Russia, China and Turkey participated on the 31st summer school organized by the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) in Bratislava. ERSA is the largest academic organization which gathers together researchers and lecturers in the field of regional science, regional economics and politics. As Mr. Štefan Rehák, the organizer of the event said for the SITA news agency today, the ERSA Summer School takes place every year at a different European university. The University of Economics in Bratislava hosted the event for the second time. The event was organized by the UEBA’s Department of Public Administration and Regional Development. During the programme, students met with experts from prestigious European universities and institutions. The summer school was supported by the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia.
UEBA ranked among the Slovak universities that were evaluated in the U-Multirank project in 2018. The project offers multidimensional and user-oriented approach to the international assessment of higher education institutions.
On June 19, 2018 the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, Mr. Ferdinand Daňo, signed an agreement on double degree diploma between the University of Economics in Bratislava (UEBA) and the University of National Economy in Sofia (UNWE). The agreement was signed in the presence of both the President of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Andrej Kiska and the President of Bulgaria, Mr. Rumen Radev who was on an official visit to Slovakia between June 19 and 20, 2018.
The University of Economics in Bratislava in collaboration with the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) is pleased to announce the opportunity for Ph.D. students and young researchers to participate in the 31th ERSA Summer School which will be held from the 1th July to 8th July, 2018 at the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia. Within the topic of the summer school “Regional Policy Analysis and Planning - Evaluation Theory and Practice” recent advances in theory of regional policy, its implementation and evaluation will be discussed. On June 7, 2018, the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava (UEBA), Mr. Ferdinand Daňo signed a memorandum of understanding with Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SIUBE) in Shanghai. The UEBA delegation was welcomed by SIUBE’s President, prof. Guohong Zhu. The meeting was attended by Ms. Nannan Zou, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ms. Lingjie Dai, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, and prof. Che Chunli, specialized in Central and Eastern Europe, who has already collaborated with the UEBA’s faculty. Cooperation was topic of the meeting. SIUBE offers multiple joint degree programmes with universities in Australia, UK, Canada and Germany, and is being involved in a number of important research projects. Both parties stressed that the potential for cooperation is great thanks to the analogous structure of both institutions.
On April 11, 2018, the scientific team of the running EDGE – Environmental Diplomacy and Geopolitics project held a special session Politics of environmental changes: mapping the interactions between migration, territories and natural resources within the AAG 2018 congress in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Despite the early scheduled time for the session, the presentations brought attention of conference attendants. The annual meeting of the American Association of Geographers is one of the world’s biggest scientific events hosting regularly more than 9,000 scholars of different backgrounds.
On June 5, 2018, the Rector of the UEBA prof. Ferdinand Daňo welcomed at her own request the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Slovakia, H. E. Yamila Sonia Pita Montes. Dr. Mario Manuel Ares Sánchez from the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education was also present at the meeting.
Following the UEBA’s Long-Term Plan for Development for 2015 – 2019 with an extension to 2023, the only signatory representing Slovakia in the UN PRIME initiative (Principles for Responsible Management Education, http://www.unprme.org/participation/view-participants.php?partid=4967), UEBA profiles as a continuously learning organization supporting the culture of quality and innovation.
On Wednesday, May 23, 2018 Mr. Boris Mattoš, the Vice-Rector for international relations at the University of Economics in Bratislava launched the 8thInternational Business Consulting Program (IBCP) summer school organized jointly by the University of Economics in Bratislava and the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
On May 16, 2018, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovenia to Slovakia, H.E. Mr. Gregor Kozovinc, visited on his own request the UEBA’s Rector, prof. Ferdinand Daňo. The subject of the meeting was academic cooperation with Slovenian universities. Mr. Boris Mattoš, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, informed the guest on the UEBA’s international cooperation.
The University of Economics in Bratislava in cooperation with leading European and Asian universities launches, in the academic year 2018/2019, seven prestigious degree programmes that allow students to graduate with two diplomas.
