The Government of the Slovak Republic has established the National Scholarship Programme (NPS) to support study, teaching, research, and artistic stays at universities and research organizations. The Slovak Academic Information Agency (SAIA, n. o.) provides information and advisory services related to study and research mobility, administers several scholarship and grant programs, and promotes Slovak universities and research organizations abroad. The scholarship offer applies to the following
Scholarships will cover living costs for students studying at universities outside Slovakia to undertake a study stay (1-2 semesters) at a university in Slovakia during their higher education.
- Students who are currently enrolled in universities outside of Slovakia may be eligible for a study stay in Slovakia if they are pursuing a master's degree or have completed at least 2.5 years of their university studies in a similar study program. This opportunity is for academic mobility to study in Slovakia and is open to students accepted by a public, private, or state higher education institution in Slovakia.
- PhD students studying at universities/research organizations outside Slovakia to undertake a study and/or research/artistic stay (1-10 months) at a university or in a research organization, eligible to carry out a doctoral study program, in Slovakia during their doctoral studies.
- University teachers, researchers, or artists working at universities/research organizations outside Slovakia to undertake a teaching and/or research/artistic stay (1-10 months) at a university or in another eligible research organization in Slovakia.
International Applicants for Scholarship Stays in Slovakia
Citizens of any country in the world can apply for a scholarship. We kindly ask that you refrain from submitting applications within one week of the deadline, as we require this time to ensure that acceptance letters are processed appropriately. The applications will not be accepted.
Please fill out the application form. You will need to submit your:
- Motivation letter
- Curriculum vitae
- Proof of English language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL certificate on a C1 level)
After receiving your admission/invitation letter, submit your application at www.scholarships.sk. The online application system is opened at least 6 weeks before the application deadline. Applications must be submitted in the online application system till the application deadline.
Deadlines for submitting applications;
- 30 April till 16:00 CEST — scholarship stays during the next academic year
- 31 October till 16:00 CET — scholarship stays during the summer semester of the current academic year
