The International Office at the University of Economics in Bratislava (EUBA), proudly hosted the 13th edition of the International Study Abroad Fair (ISAF) on October 01, 2024, an event that showcased the participation of 40 students from 20 different countries that introduced their universities and countries in their country booths.

The fair aimed to promote international exchanges and mobilities to local students. Noah from the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, said: “The ISAF was a fantastic opportunity to learn about various academic programs and meet students from different backgrounds. The delicious food from all over the world made the experience even better.

The event was opened by the Coordinator for Incoming Students, Laura Danielová, who welcomed the students and emphasized the importance of fostering connections across the fair. The students of EUBA explored a variety of booths showcasing different universities, countries, and traditions enhanced by music, culinary samples, dances, and other interactive experiences.

Coordinators from the International Office and coordinators from SAIA also had their booths at the ISAF, providing advice on the possibilities of studying abroad. The Ambassador from the Federal Republic of Germany, Thomas Kurz, also came to greet the students.

The online voting for "Best Booth" saw enthusiastic participation, with a total of 198 votes cast. The Vice-rector for International Relations, Boris Mattoš, addressed the attendees, underscoring the role of study abroad programs in enriching educational experiences, and announced the Spanish booth as the winner selected by students. Raúl from the University of Santiago, Spain said: “The event was really interesting and the organizers made it so smooth, so everybody could have a space to shine. I would like to say that despite not being the stand with the most content in the fair, is incredible to see people being so supportive and so interested in our country.” The full-time student Hasna from Egypt’s booth was selected by the International Office recognizing its creativity. She said: „I'm so happy I won, honestly, I went there just for the university spirit and to make new friends, so winning really made me happy, that the efforts were rewarded, I have to thank you so so much again, I'm really glad.”

Overall, ISAF was a resounding success, fostering unity and appreciation for the students' diverse backgrounds. Julian from the University of Hamburg, Germany mentioned “The ISAF was great. Some nations put so much effort into representing their country. Everyone had some typical food and the Spanish people even performed a dance. It was nice to be there.
