Students of the Data Science in Economics master's programme at the Faculty of Economic Informatics, Bratislava University of Economics in Bratislava, have achieved an outstanding international success. In the global SAS Curiosity Cup 2026 competition, they claimed 1st place in the Culture, Lifestyle & Entertainment category.
This year's edition attracted nearly 200 teams from around the world, with 138 projects ultimately submitted for final evaluation. Participants represented universities from 20 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, reflecting the growing global significance of this prestigious data analytics competition.
Teams of two to four students, each guided by an academic mentor, tackled real-world problems using SAS analytical tools. An expert jury evaluated the quality of data processing, methodological approach, visualisation of results, and the participants' presentation skills.
The winning team, Statistix & Chill from the Faculty of Economic Informatics — comprised of Bc. Michal Živčák and Bc. Denisa Tokárová, under the expert guidance of doc. RNDr. Viera Labudová, PhD. from the Department of Statistics — impressed the jury with the quality of their analytical work, a creative approach to the assignment, and a compelling interpretation of the results. In addition to valuable prizes, the winners also received a prestigious digital badge.

Special thanks go to Katarína Krausová, Manager of the SAS Global Academic Program, for her encouragement and support in motivating FHI EUBA faculty and students of the Data Science in Economics programme to take part in the competition.
This achievement further confirms the high standard of the Data Science in Economics study programme at EUBA. We warmly congratulate the Statistix & Chill team on their excellent result and thank them for representing the Faculty of Economic Informatics and Bratislava University of Economics in Bratislava on the international stage.
