Bratislava September 17, 2025 – The Assembly Hall at Bratislava University of Economics and Business (EUBA) hosted the opening ceremony of the academic year 2025/2026. At the beginning of an exceptional academic year for EUBA, which will commemorate the 85th anniversary of its founding with several events until next summer, EUBA Rector Prof. Ferdinand Daňo addressed students, teachers and invited guests.
In his words, addressed not only to the students in the packed auditorium, but also to the deans and members of the individual faculties of EUBA, the university rector primarily reflected on the aforementioned anniversary. "In eighty-five years, we have traveled a path that we can be proud of. From modest beginnings, we have grown into a university of European stature. We have built faculties that prepare experts in economics, finance, management, business, tourism, international relations, accounting, and philology. Tens of thousands of our graduates today work in decisive positions at home and around the world. They bear the name of their alma mater and prove that an education from EUBA has value," emphasized Ferdinand Daňo.
EUBA will not live only in the past in this festive academic year, but mainly as a part of it. It focuses not only on forming new economic leaders by educating them not only in Slovakia, but also by opening doors abroad. "EUBA currently has 349 bilateral cooperation agreements with university institutions in 64 countries around the world on 5 continents. EUBA faculties are currently implementing 16 international double and joint study programs with 15 partner universities in 12 countries in Europe and Asia. The latest cooperation based on double diplomas includes a partnership with the Luxembourg School of Business. In 2024, we sent 453 students abroad - 12.7 percent more than the year before. At the same time, we welcomed 202 foreign students. This means that our university is truly a living crossroads of cultures, languages, and ideas," added Mr. Daňo in his speech.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the university's founding, EUBA Rector Ferdinand Daňo presented awards to laureates from individual EUBA faculties at the ceremonial opening of the new academic year for outstanding contributions to the development of education, outstanding contributions to the development of science and research, contributions to the development of sports, lifelong learning, and contributions to the development of academic self-government. He also presented the EUBA Award for Publication Activity and the EUBA Rector's Award for Student Scientific and Professional Activity. The award winners will be presented in detail in separate articles.
