On September 10-11, 2024, the EUBA Department for Science and Doctoral Studies prepared the fifth annual event "PhD. Orientation Days'.
The goal of the event was to provide information to new full-time doctoral students who are starting to study at EUBA in the academic year 2024/2025. The program included lectures and training sessions on the main topics related to the scientific research and pedagogical activities of doctoral students at the university.
In their lectures, Matej Lorko and Štefan Rehák from the Faculty of Economics and Finance presented an interesting approach to the work of scientific and research workers at the university.
Kirill Ivanov from the publishing house Elsevier reported on publishing activity and how to avoid predatory practices when publishing professional articles. Employees from the Slovak Economic Library prepared a Turnitin workshop, where they presented this anti-plagiarism tool and its possibilities of use at EUBA.
In addition to lectures and trainings, doctoral students also gained an overview of the possibilities of financing their projects through internal EU sources in Bratislava and through the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic - the Early Stage Grants project.
Representatives from the Center for International Relations EUBA, SAIA, the International Visegrad Fund and Fulbright informed about the possibilities of foreign mobility and their financing.
40 doctoral students took part in the event and received a certificate of participation.
The event also included the "Scientific Café for Women", during which Erika Majzlíková from the Faculty of Economics inspired young doctoral students, talking to them about the challenges of a research career and the importance of a balance between personal and working life.
