In the Niké SuperFinal of the Slovak Women's Volleyball Cup in Nitra, Slavia EUBA defeated the team of VK Nové Mesto nad Váhom 3:0 (25:8, 25:23, 25:11). The match, which lasted 73 minutes, brought Slavia EUBA their 16th Slovak Cup and the Stefan Pipa Trophy for the second time.
From the beginning of the match, the players of Slavia were dominant, which allowed them to build a comfortable lead that they maintained throughout the game. Michaela Kánová, who scored 20 points in the match, was one of the key figures in their victory.
Jakub Brečka, coach of Slavia EUBA:
"I did not expect the match to go so smoothly and I do not want to detract from it. It was not entirely easy, even if the result speaks for itself. From the beginning, we executed everything we had prepared for to the letter. Thanks to this, we had the duel more or less under control. We were of higher quality and more stable in serving. When Nové Mesto tried to pressure us with their serves, they made mistakes."
Ema Magdinová, captain of Slavia EUBA:
"We knew that Nové Mesto has a quality defense, commitment, and also many fans who came to Nitra to support them. I am satisfied that it turned out quite smoothly. In the second set, we struggled, made mistakes, but we should have won it more decisively and not in the final moments. We were better in serving, Nové Mesto had to play from high balls, and therefore defense was easier for us."
Michaela Kánová, player of Slavia EUBA:
"Nové Mesto was not an easy opponent. It was evident that we were focused on this match and started it very well. We nearly spoiled the second set ourselves, but fortunately, we brought it to a victorious end, and the third set was firmly in our hands. I felt excellent on the court, I'm glad that I can play to the fullest again and I look forward to further matches."
This triumph is not only a testament to the current form of Slavia EUBA (formerly Slavia UK) but also a continuation of their long-term dominance in Slovak women's volleyball, as confirmed by their rich history of success in the Slovak Cup.
