The 16th edition of the Model Conference of the Faculty of International Relations was held at the University of Economics in Bratislava on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Second-year students in their second-level studies were divided into two sections in the academic year: the political and the economic one. Represented by selected members from their respective sections, they discussed the current situation concerning 21st century armed conflicts. During the plenary session held in the EUBA Assembly Hall they posed questions which arose from the conclusions of their deliberations.

The invitation to the plenary session was accepted by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ingrid Brocková, who highlighted the unprecedented manner of how the Model Conference is interconnected with the modern reality. The conference was also addressed by Martin Nesirky, UNIS Vienna Director, who outlined options for future cooperation with the faculty.

The political section had as guests Jana Kobzová, Martin Kačo and Tomáš Valášek.

Debates in the economic section involved Lucia Rosiarová, Zdeněk Čech, Michal Horváth and Michal Lehuta.

The plenary session was attended by about 300 guests.

The Model Conference is a project intended for fifth-year students at EUBA's Faculty of International Relations, who systematically engage in it during two semesters of their last year of studies. The project's main goal is to translate theoretical knowledge acquired at school into practical output under teachers' supervision and in collaboration with experts in the respective field(s). During both semesters various project-related events are held - round tables, sectoral negotiations - involving debates within individual sections with invited experts on current topics in international relations featured in the respective section. The project's highlight is the closing conference held regularly in EUBA's Assembly Hall and attended by prominent guests, experts and diplomats.
