On 6 November 2026, the Bratislava University of Economics and Business will confer the honorary degree Doctor honoris causa upon Prof. dr hab. Józef Pociecha.
The Bratislava University of Economics and Business expresses its respect and appreciation to distinguished personalities in various ways, including by conferring upon them the honorary degree Doctor honoris causa. It is awarded above all to distinguished personalities from Slovakia and abroad whose work contributes to the development of cooperation between the Bratislava University of Economics and Business and the institutions they represent. In the history of the university, a total of thirty-eight personalities have received the Doctor honoris causa diploma, thirty-one of them from abroad and seven from Slovakia.
The ceremonial meeting of the Scientific Council of the Bratislava University of Economics and Business, joined by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Economic Informatics, will take place on 6 November 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the University Auditorium (Aula). On this occasion, Professor Pociecha will give a lecture titled Stochasticity, non-linearity and non-parametricity of socio-economic processes – current challenges for statisticians.
