The team of students of Banking studying at the UEBA’s Faculty of National Economy led by Assoc. Prof. Jana Kotlebová, PhD., Assoc. Prof. Peter Árendáš, PhD. and Ing. M. Širaňová, MA, PhD. from the Department of Banking and International Finance tested their skills again at the international competition Rotman European Trading Competition (RETC 2018), now in Rome taking place between August 23 and 25, 2018.
The student team representing our alma mater—Rudolf Bruchárik, Juraj Dedinský, Alžbeta Bolešová a Alena Zemanová—achieved an admirable success:
3rd place Intesa Sanpaolo Liquidity Risk Case
(tender liquidity risk evaluation and its trading with maximum profit compared to spot market trading)
4th place EIB Interest Rates
(benchmark and market report based bonds valuation and its subsequent trading)
4th place Credit Risk Case
(credit risk model construction and its application in corporate bonds trading, Altman’s Z-Score structural model application in prediction company’s prospective credit rating changes and subsequent portfolio rebalancing including application of diverse trading strategies comprising those reflecting on market reports)
4th place Enel Electricity Case
(ability to interact at the electricity market in the role of a producer, distributor and traders of this underlying asset)
and overall 7th place in a strong international competition from 39 renowned universities from Europe and Asia.
We want to use this opportunity to warmly congratulate our students on excellent results and we hope that this positive experience will stimulate other students to reach ever higher professional goals.
