The Department of Science and Doctoral Studies at EUBA organized the 7th annual "PhD Orientation Days 2026" event on September 16–17, 2026. The event aimed to provide information to new doctoral students beginning their studies at the University of Economics in Bratislava in the 2026/2027 academic year. This year’s event also served as a pilot initiative in preparation for the establishment of the EUBA Doctoral School, scheduled for September 1, 2027.
During the event, doctoral students were introduced to the organization and practical aspects of doctoral studies and received information regarding opportunities for study mobility abroad and internships through the Erasmus+ program.
In addition to this practical information, the program focused on professional topics relevant to the students' ongoing development. Tomáš Oleš from the Faculty of Economics and Finance addressed skill development and doctoral study planning; Bohuslava Mihalčová from the Faculty of Business Economics (based in Košice) discussed the pedagogical skills required of university lecturers; and Veronika Horniaková from the Faculty of Economic Informatics covered the use of artificial intelligence in teaching and research.
The second day featured topics focused primarily on the scientific research and publishing activities of doctoral students. The lectures covered opportunities for research collaboration and project participation, publication strategy, the use of social media for building an academic profile, as well as ethics in science and research and the issue of ethical certification. These topics were addressed by Simona Kosztanko (Faculty of Business Management), Matej Lorko (Faculty of Economics and Finance), Martin Kuchta (Faculty of Commerce), and Eva Jančíková (Faculty of International Relations).
Fifty-eight doctoral students attended the event and received a certificate of participation.
