Bratislava University of Economics and Business (EUBA) and Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg have concluded a Double Degree Agreement, which will allow students of the Faculty of Economics of EUBA to obtain two full degrees – one from Slovakia and one from Germany – during the standard length of their engineering studies. The program will start in the academic year 2026/2027 and will last for five academic years.

The agreement was signed by EUBA Rector Prof. Ferdinand Daňo, PhD. and President of the University of Bamberg Professor Dr. Kai Fischbach, together with the Dean of the EUBA Faculty of Economics and Finance Prof. Erika Pastoráková, PhD. and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business Management of the University of Bamberg Professor Dr. Johannes Marx.

This is the fifth double degree in the portfolio of the Faculty of Economics and Finance. It expands existing partnerships with the University of Coimbra (Portugal), Luxembourg School of Business (Luxembourg), University of Pavia (Italy) and Woosong University / SolBridge International School of Business (Republic of Korea) – and for the first time brings a German university into this network.

Who is the program for?

The double degree program is intended for students of three specific engineering study programs:

  • on the EUBA side – Finance (taught in English) or Finance and Taxes (taught in Slovak) at the Faculty of Economics and Finance,
  • on the University of Bamberg side – the engineering study program Finance and Accounting.

Upon successful completion, the student will receive two separate diplomas – from the EUBA and from the University of Bamberg – both of which will explicitly state that the degrees were awarded as part of the double degree.

The study period covers a two-year period. The student completes the first year at his/her home university, the second year at the partner university. The thesis is usually written at the host university under the supervision of a tutor from the host university and a consultant from the home university.

Bamberg – UNESCO city and strong economics faculty

The Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg is one of the most prestigious German universities. Its roots date back to 1647, it has been operating in its current form since 1972 and has around 11,000 students. The Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business Administration (Fakultät Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften) has long been considered one of the leading institutions in Bavaria in the field of economics and business administration and maintains cooperation with around 300 institutions in more than 60 countries. The city of Bamberg itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers the comfort of a smaller university town with a full Bavarian academic infrastructure.

By signing the new agreement, Bamberg is joining the wide network of double and joint degrees that EUBA offers at EUBA faculties. The new diploma thus strengthens EUBA's position as the only Slovak university with a comprehensive offer of economic education at all three levels of study and with the prestigious international accreditation of AACSB.
