The University of Economics in Bratislava, as the only university in Slovakia providing complete and comprehensive education in economics and management study programmes at all three study levels, opened a new 2023/2024 academic year, 83rd year in a row, in the EUBA Assembly Hall.

At the start of the opening ceremony, the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, Ferdinand Daňo, addressed students, staff members and general public.

“The university is a place where students not only acquire their knowledge but also form their character. I wish for students to continue being active participants in academic life, to engage in student organisations and gain first-rate experience. This experience will help them establish strong relations and acquire relevant skills they will benefit from for the rest of their lives. In the academic year ahead of us we will be facing fresh challenges involving new demanding tasks; their implementation will not be an easy process and will require deployment of human resources as well as a great deal of finance. The new academic year is thus an opportunity for us to start anew, bringing with it new goals and options. I believe that if we manage to stick to the joint values and principles, it could lead us to excellent results. Together we form a community where diversity of views and approaches is respected and creativity fostered,” said University Rector Ferdinand Daňo.

Ferdinand Daňo thanked the students and staff members for the work they had carried out in the past academic year. He also wished them every success in their professional and personal lives, as well as many creative ideas and the strength required to implement them.

During the academic year opening ceremony the EUBA Rector bestowed awards on outstanding students and academicians for their excellent achievements, teaching activities and publication output. More than 7,000 students have registered for studies in the new academic year.
