The Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, based on the recommendations of the Crisis Board of the University of Economics in Bratislava for monitoring, evaluation of the situation and taking measures in relation to the occurrence and spread of COVID-19 coronavirus dated 24 March 2020 has issued

 

the Rector's measure no. 5/2020

 

specifying, adjusting and supplementing the Rector's Measures no. 4/2020 issued on March 12, 2020.

All of the following measures and deadlines may be changed and modified depending on the decisions of public authorities (e.g the Government of the SR, the Central Crisis Board of the SR, the Public Health Office).

 

  1. Interruption of the education until 30 May 2020 (included) for the first, second and third stage of full-time and part-time study

    1. The attendance form of education and the examination period shall be stopped until 30 May 2020 (inclusive) at all teaching departments (Bratislava, Košice, Michalovce, Virt). The educational process will be conducted online using online learning platforms (e.g, Moodle, Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts Meets, etc.) followed by self-study.  Details shall be determined by the deans of the faculties and the persons authorized by them.
    2. Schedule of the academic year 2019/2020 at the EU in Bratislava is amended as follows:
      1. The attendance form of education for the final years of study at the first and second stage of study shall be stopped until the deadline set by the academic year for teaching in the final years of study.

      2. Teaching will be provided online using online learning platforms (e.g, Moodle, Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts Meets, etc.) followed by self-study.  Communication between teachers and students regarding the assessment of the fulfillment of the conditions for active forms of teaching will take place electronically or by using online platforms. The results of the fulfillment of duties in the active forms of teaching will be recorded by all teachers in the AIS2 by 7 May 2020, for the final theses by 22 May 2020.

        The details will be determined by dean of the faculties and the persons authorized by them according to the structure of the curricula of the individual study programs so that the final year students receive all relevant information for the completion of the subject, year and the completion of study.

      3. The attendance form of teaching in other years at the first, second and third levels of study shall be stopped until the deadline set by the academic year schedule for teaching in other years of study.

        Teaching will be provided online using online learning platforms (e.g, Moodle, Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts Meets, etc.) followed by self-study. Communication between teachers and students regarding the assessment of the fulfillment of the conditions for active forms of teaching will take place electronically or by using online platforms. The results of the fulfillment of duties in the active forms of teaching will be recorded by all teachers to AIS2 by 7 May 2020.

        The details will be determined by deans of the faculties and persons authorized by them according to the structure of the study plans of the individual study programs so that the students receive all relevant information for the completion of the subject and year.

      4. The examination period for the final years of study at the first and second level of study shall begin on the 1 of June 2020.

        The dates of the exams will be announced to the extent corresponding to the number of students of the given subject, so that only a limited number of students can participate in one term, while maintaining all safety and hygiene measures for both teachers and students.

        Details will be determined by  deans of  faculties and persons authorized by them according to the structure of study plans of individual study programs.

      5. The examination period for the other years of study at the first and second level of the study shall run from 1 June 2020 to 17 July 2020.

        The dates of the exams will be announced to the extent corresponding to the number of students of the given subject, so that only a limited number of students can participate in one term, while maintaining all safety and hygiene measures for both teachers and students.

        Details will be determined by  deans of  faculties and persons authorized by them according to the structure of study plans of individual study programs.

      6. The deadline for submission of the final and final theses to the Academic Information System (AIS2) is extended at all faculties until 22 May 2020.

        The details of the submission of final theses to AIS2 are regulated according to the internal directive no. 11/2019 on final theses and Rector's order no. 7/2019 on the implementation of the internal directive no. 11/2019 (https://euba.sk/student/zaverecne-prace).

        All other particularities, including printed versions of the final theses, will be submitted by the student after the 1st June 2020 in accordance with the Rector's directive no. 7/2019.

        Further details will be determined by deans of thel faculties and persons authorized by them according to the structure of the study plans of the study programs.

      7. State examinations at the first and second stage of study shall take place no earlier than 15 June 2020, with the possibility of a two-shift cycle.

        Details will be determined by  deans of  faculties and persons authorized by them according to the structure of study plans of individual study programs.

      8. The deadline for submitting 1st degree applications for all study programs is extended until 15 April 2020.

      9. The deadline for applying for the 2nd level of study is unchanged (until 30 April 2020).

      10. The deadline for submitting applications for the third level of study shall not change (until 12 June 2020).

        The Common Admission Procedure Principles for the third level of study at the University of Economics in Bratislava for the academic year 2020/2021 will be followed. The entrance examinations for the third level of study will be carried out according to the schedules of the faculties.

        Details shall be determined by the deans of the faculties and the persons authorized by them.

      11. PhD theses defenses will be held from the 1st June 2020 to 17 July 2020 or from the 24 to 31 August 2020.

        Details will be determined by  deans of  faculties and persons authorized by them according to the structure of study plans of individual study programs.

      12. The so-called. "Departmental dissertation defenses" may be held exclusively online, continuously.

        Details will be set by the senior staff (usually head of departments) whose competences include the given activity.

      13. Retake state examinations at the first and second level of the study shall be held from 24 August 2020 to 31 August 2020.

        Details will be determined by  deans of  faculties and persons authorized by them according to the structure of study plans of individual study programs.

      14. Students (except for foreign students) staying in the dormitories of the University will be allowed to get back to those dormitories no earlier than 31 May 2020.

        The information will be provided to all students staying in dormitories by the Center of Business and University Services of the EU in Bratislava electronically.

      15. Foreign students staying in dormitories are obliged to keep all safety and hygiene regulations and regulations even during the interruption of classes.

      16. Once the precautionary measures have been lifted, students will be allowed to stay in dormitories until 31 July 2020.

        All students who, within the measures of the Rector of the EU in Bratislava no. 4/2020, left the dormitories of the EU in Bratislava from March 15, 2020, the aliquot part of the fee for the month of March, the fee for the month of April and the fee for the month of May will be returned to students' bank accounts after the crisis. The June accommodation fee remains valid. The July accommodation fee will be the amount of the academic year fee.

        The information will be provided to all students staying in dormitories by the Center of Business and University Services of the EU in Bratislava electronically.

      17. Graduation ceremonies at the 1 st and 2nd level of study scheduled from 22 June 2020 to 3 July 2020 will be canceled.

        Diplomas and documents will be handed over to the graduates at the relevant department of the faculties after completion of their studies within the deadlines set by the faculty. Alternative dates of graduation will be set in September, or in October if graduates will be  interested.

        Details shall be determined by the deans of the faculties and the persons authorized by them.

      18. The main holiday period shall run from 20 July 2020 to 31 August 2020.

  2. Other measures

    1. The Deans of the Faculties, in cooperation with the heads of Faculties will ensure the smooth termination of all activities resulting from the schedule of the academic year 2019/2020 and its modifications pursuant to this measure.

    2. Daily attendance at the University of the Third Age is suspended until 7 May 2020.

      Teaching will be provided online by using online learning platforms (e.g, Moodle, Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts Meets, etc.) followed by self-study.
       
      Details are set by the manager of the University of the Third Age of the BBS EU in Bratislava.

    3. All other activities of the University of the Third Age organized by the EU in Bratislava are canceled until the further notice.

      This applies to all educational centers where the activities of the University of the Third Age are carried out.

    4. The consultation hours of study departments, the sections and of teaching staff are canceled by 30 May.

      The communication of students and employees with the above mentioned departments, sections and teaching staff will be realized exclusively electronically or by telephone.

      Details shall be determined by the deans of the faculties and the persons authorized by them.

    5. Meetings of all self-governing bodies and advisory bodies of the University and the faculties (e.g. Academic Boards, Scientific Councils, Colleges, Disciplinary Commissions, etc.) may be held exclusively online until 30 May 2020, depending on the nature of the meeting and the material discussed.

    6. Habilitation and inaugural lectures are canceled until the further notice.

    7. All collective events organized on the premises of the EU in Bratislava (also in Košice) organized by the EU in Bratislava and other entities are canceled until the further notice.

    8. The visits in dormitories are prohibited until the further notice.

    9. The operating and borrowing hours of the Slovak Economic Library are canceled until 30 May 2020.

    10. The planned admissions of any foreign partners and students are canceled until the further notice.

    11. All foreign and domestic staff travels are canceled until further notice.

    12. International students´mobilities are canceled until the further notice.
      In connection with the Guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Slovak Republic this applies to students planning to travel abroad and does not apply to the students' international mobilities. Following the statement of the Erasmus + National Agency for Education and Training of 10 March 2020, the National Agency changes its statement from the 28 February 2020. The granting of force majeure in cases related to coronavirus and in accordance with the guidance of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Slovak Republic it is the responsibility of the higher education institution, so it is not necessary to inform the National Agency of such cases. If a student or employee does not travel but has incurred certain costs (e.g. travel or pre-paid accommodation) in connection with Erasmus + mobility, he or she is entitled to be reimbursed for reasons of force majeure. Students and staff who decide to return early from abroad shall be treated in the same way as other cases of early return due to force majeure, with the possibility of reimbursing such participants for the travel costs of returning home. Details in the issues of students who returned early from abroad, or they planned to go abroad but they did not go, will be set by the deans and persons authorized by them;

    13. All employees and students who have returned from the international mobility from 9 March 2020 are required to respect public directives of the Public Health Authority of the Slovak Republic and remain in  isolation at home for at least 14 days after their return.  Besides the persons mentioned in the directives of the ÚVZ SR, it is mandatory to report this fact electronically to the relevant head staff; students are required to notify the relevant study department electronically; students of international mobility report it to the Department of International Mobility of the University.

    14. The head staff shall enable home office to the research, the teaching and the non-teaching staff  until April 30 2020 (included), according to § 52  section 5 of the Labor Code by giving them specific tasks, deadlines and the proof of their fulfillment. This shall not apply to employees whose presence at work is necessary to ensure that the functions  at the departments are fulfilled to a minimum extent at the discretion of the persons responsible for the implementation of this measure.

      The agreed work according to the paragraph § 52 section 5 of the Labor Code will be interrupted from the 6 April 2020 to 15 April 2020 (included) because of the general collective leave for all university employees.

      From 1 May 2020, a new measure will be taken on this issue, depending on the evolution of the situation.

    15. Executive Staff shall provide days off to the non-teaching and non-teaching staff (with the exception of those under the paragraph § 52  5 of the Labor Code)  until 30 April 2020 (included) according to the paragraph § 141  3 letter b) and § 142 sect. 3 of the Labor Code This shall not apply to employees whose presence at the work is necessary to ensure that the functions of each department are fulfilled to a minimum extent at the discretion of the persons responsible for the implementation of this measure.

      The agreed work according to the paragraph § 52 section 5 of the Labor Code will be interrupted from the 6 April 2020 to 15 April 2020 (included) because of the general collective leave for all university employees.

      From 1 May 2020, a new measure will be taken on this issue, depending on the evolution of the situation.

    16. Executive staff will the employees who are subject to obligations arising from the adjustment of the academic year schedule up to 17 July 2020 to the extent of the Collective Agreement, to take leave from 20 July 2020 to 31 August 2020.

    17. The opening hours of the canteen of the University of Economics in Bratislava as well as the provision of food in the cafeteria in the V2 building is canceled until 30 May 2020.

    18. The building “Školička”, the gym in Horský Park, in Virt, in Jarabá and in Pokrok facilities are closed until the further notice.

    19. No entry to buildings V1 and V2 and to the building “Školička” remains in force until the the suspension of teaching is ended.
      This shall not apply to staff working on shifts and ensuring continuous operation or other staff whose presence at work is necessary at the discretion of the persons who are responsible for the implementation of this measure.

    20. It is envisaged to tighten the daily hygienic regime of premises and persons at the university according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic.

 

We draw the attention of all staff and students to the need for a responsible attitude and caution in the appearance of any signs of acute respiratory disease and to mutual recalling the preventive measures.

Responsible employees are asked to inform those who do not have access to the computer about these measures.

General measures to prevent or minimize damage include:

  • a higher compliance with the rules of hygiene,
  • frequent washing of hands with soap and water, or using alcohol-based hand detergents,
  • covering the nose and mouth while coughing and sneezing with a disposable tissue, which should be thrown in a bin,
  • avoiding close contact with people who show symptoms of rhinitis or flu,
  • treatment at home in case of illness,
  • preventing unprotected contact with wild or farmed animals,
  • consumption of boiled meat and eggs,
  • checking the health (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath) 14 days after you arrive from areas where the coronavirus was confirmed,
  • contacting or seeking medical advice in case of clinical symptoms after returning from a coronavirus confirmed area.
  • remaining in isolation for at least two weeks after returning from coronavirus confirmed areas,
  • avoiding any contact with people and wearing protective clothing where contact is necessary.
