The Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava in accordance with the declaration of the Government of the Slovak Republic on emergency situation in relation to the risk of spreading the new coronavirus throughout the country with the aim to mitigate the consequences of the public health risks due to the COVID-19 disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 in the Slovak Republic ”and in accordance with the recommendations of the Crisis Board of the University of Economics in Bratislava related to the COVID-19 on March 12, 2020 has issued
the Rector's measure no. 4/2020
specifying, modifying and supplementing the Rector's measures no. 3/2020 issued on the 11 March 2020:
- From Monday, March 9, 2020 to Saturday, March 28, 2020 (included), both full-time and part-time study programs at all teaching departments (Bratislava, Košice, Michalovce, Virt) have been suspended. The teaching process will take the form of self-study or other relevant methods. Details shall be determined by the dean of the individual faculties and the persons authorized by them.
- From Monday, March 16, 2020 to Saturday, March 28, 2020 (included), both full-time studies and external studies will be suspended at all departments. The teaching process will take the form of self-study or other relevant methods. Details shall be determined by the dean of the individual faculties and the persons authorized by them.
- From Monday 9 March 2020 to Saturday 28 March 2020 (included), teaching at the University of the Third Age is suspended and all UTV activities organized by the University of Economics in Bratislava (in all educational centers) are canceled.
- From Monday, March 9, 2020 to Saturday, March 28, 2020 (included), the consultations of study departments, sections and of the teaching staff have been canceled.Students are encouraged to communicate with these departments and employees solely by email or by telephone. Details shall be determined by the dean of the individual faculties and the persons authorized by them.
- From Monday 16 March 2020 until Saturday 28 March 2020 (included), the meetings of all self-governing bodies and advisory bodies of the University and faculties (academic senates, scientific councils, colleges, disciplinary commissions), state examinations (at all levels of study), dissertation defense, habilitation and inaugural proceedings will be canceled.
- From Monday 9 March 2020 to Saturday 28 March 2020 (included), all collective events organized at the premises of the University of Bratislava and Košice, organized by the University and other entities, have been canceled.
- Students (except for foreign students) staying in dormitories at the University are requested to leave by Sunday 15 March 2020 at 12 noon. This regulation applies to all Slovak students without exception!!!
- Visits to dormitories of the University are prohibited with the immediate effect.
- From Tuesday 10 March 2020 to Saturday 28 March 2020 (included), the operating and borrowing hours of the Slovak Economic Library have been canceled.
- From Friday, 13 March 2020 until a further notice, all planned admissions of any foreign partners and students will be canceled.
- From Friday, 13 March 2020 until further notice, all staff missions abroad will be canceled.
- With the immediate effect until a further notice, students' mobilities have been canceled in connection with the directive of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Slovak Republic (this applies to students planning to travel abroad and does not apply to students who are abroad).
- Following the decision of the Erasmus + National Agency for Education and Training on the 10 March 2020, the National Agency changes its standpoint of the 28 February 2020. The granting of the “force majeure”, in cases related to coronavirus and in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Slovak Republic the competence has the higher education institution, so it is not necessary to inform the National Agency of such cases. If a student or employee does not travel abroad but has incurred certain costs (e.g. travel or pre-paid accommodation) in connection with the Erasmus + mobility, he or she is entitled to be reimbursed for reasons of force majeure. Students and the university staff who decide to return early from abroad shall be treated in the same way as in other cases of early return due to force majeure, with the possibility of reimbursing such participants for the travel costs related to home return.
- All employees and students who have returned from their mobility from the 9 March 2020 are required to respect public decrees of the Public Health Authority of the Slovak Republic and remain in home isolation for at least 14 days after their return.It is required to report this fact via email to the relevant manager; students are required to notify the relevant study department via email; students of international mobility should notify the Department of International Mobility of the University.
- From Friday 13 March 2020 to Saturday 28 March 2020 (included) all the senior staff shall be obliged according to the § 52 sect. 5 of the Labor Code to agree with their subordinate pedagogical and scientific research staff to work at home with imposing specific tasks, deadlines for their fulfillment and a proof of their fulfillment. This shall not apply to employees whose presence at the workplace is necessary at the discretion of the persons responsible for the implementation of this measure.
- From Friday 13 March 2020 to Saturday 28 March 2020 (included) senior staff shall be obliged, according to the § 141 sect. 3 , letter b) and § 142 sect. 3 of the Labor Code to give the non-pedagogical and non-research employees the time off. This shall not apply to staff working on shifts and ensuring continuous operation or other staff whose presence at the workplace is necessary at the discretion of the persons responsible for the implementation of this measure.
- From Friday, March 13, 2020 to Friday, March 28, 2020 (included), the opening hours in the Cafeteria in building V1 (Faculty of National Economy and Faculty of Commerce) will be suspended.
- From Monday, March 16, 2020 to Saturday, March 28, 2020 (included), the cafeteria opening hours in the V2 building (Rectorate) will be canceled and the provision of meals in the canteen in the V2 building will be suspended.
- From Monday, March 16, 2020 to Saturday, March 28, 2020 (included), operations in the Školička building, the Horský park gym, Virt, Jarabá and Pokrok facilities will be suspended.
- From Monday, March 16, 2020 to Saturday, March 28, 2020 (included), entry to building V1 and V2, the Školička building, will be prohibited. This shall not apply to staff working on shifts and ensuring continuous operation or other staff whose presence at the workplace is necessary at the discretion of the persons responsible for the implementation of this measure.
- It is mandatory to tighten the daily hygienic regime of premises and persons at the university departments according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health.
The schedule of the academic year has not been changed yet and all the dates resulting from it remain valid. Employees and students will be informed in a timely manner about any changes to the academic year schedule.
These measures may be amended, changed, or added depending on the evolution of the situation.
We draw the attention of all staff and students to the need for a responsible attitude and caution in the appearance of any signs of acute respiratory disease and mutual recalls of preventive measures.
The employees in charge are asked to inform those who do not have access to the computer of these measures.
General measures to prevent or minimize damage include:
- absolute compliance with rules of hygiene,
- frequent washing of hands with soap and water, or use of alcohol-based hand detergents,
- covering the nose and mouth while coughing and sneezing with a disposable tissue which must be thrown in the bin,
- avoiding close contact with people who show symptoms of rhinitis or flu,
- treatment at home in case of illness,
- prevent unprotected contact with wild or farmed animals,
- consumption of boiled meat and eggs,
- checking the health condition (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath) 14 days after you arrive from coronavirus confirmed areas,
- contacting a doctor or seeking medical advice in case of clinical symptoms after returning from a coronavirus confirmed area.

- avoiding any contact with people and wear protective clothing if the contact is necessary.
