On March 8, 2018, Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, Mr. Ferdinand Daňo received a delegation from Tishreen University in Syria headed by Rector of this university prof. Hani Mahmoud Shaaban. Members of the delegation from the Syrian university were Dr. Jaber Diba, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Dr. Louya Mohamad Sayouh from the Department of Economics and Planning at the Faculty of Economics, prof. Sawsan Salman Ghazal, Head of International and Cultural Relations and Public Relations at Tishreen University, as well as Ali Assad, MSc., PhD., President of the National Union of Syrian Students in Slovakia.
Ms. Jana Péliová, Vice-Rector for Academic Projects Management, Mr. Rudolf Kucharčík, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Ms. Tatiana Hríviková, Vice Dean for Science and Research at the Faculty of Applied Languages, and Ms. Miroslava Darnadiová, Head of the Department of International Mobility at the Institute of International Relations of the EU in Bratislava were also present at the meeting.
Delegations’ discussions included cooperation between the two universities in the field of student and academic exchange as well as the possibilities of mutual scientific research collaboration between researchers from the UEBA and Tishreen University.
Tishreen University in Syria has 17 faculties, the Faculty of Economics with its 35,000 students being one of the largest ones. In the winter semester of the next academic year, the UEBA will host students from the Syrian university within the framework of the Erasmus+ exchange programme.
