The Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad in Moscow presented the University of Economics in Bratislava with a gift of 300 publications. The donation ceremony took place on February 28, 2018 in the Slovak Economic Library with the participation of the EUBA’s Rector, Mr. Ferdinand Daňo, a representative of the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad, Ms. Svetlana Romanova, and the First Secretary of the Russian Embassy, ​​Mr. Vladislav Kulikov. The event was hosted by Mr. Roman Kvapil, Head of the Slavic Languages ​​Department of the EUBA’s Faculty of Applied Languages.

The donated collection includes works by classics of Russian literature as well as writers of the 20th century. Particular attention has been paid to the work of the Nobel Prize winner for the literature, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, as this year marks the 100th anniversary of his birth. Modern textbooks on Russian language and dictionaries make also part of the gift. On this occasion, an exhibition of donated books as an overview of the publishing activity of the most important Russian publishing houses was also held.

The Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad is a state institution that, since its inception in 1995, has played a role as a museum, archive, library, as well as a science and research and cultural-educational centre. A substantial part of activities of the House of Russia Abroad is focused on the history and culture of Russian emigration in different periods and countries. The Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad has its own studio Russkiy put' (Russian Route) and publishing house of the same name. The Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad cooperates with the Russian language associations and the Slavic and Russian studies departments in various countries, and already presented book collections to universities in several countries before.
