Throughout the summer semester of the academic year 2021/2022, the International Mobility Department organized three Snack&Chat events where all incoming exchange students enjoyed the opportunity to meet EUBA’s management and mingle with students from all over the world. The three fruitful events held on March 24, May 5, and May 19 respectively, were very valuable and well received by our students.
The first two Snack&Chat were held in person on campus, accommodating six students from Portugal, Spain, Poland, South Korea, Brazil, Greece, and Ukraine on March 23, and five students from Germany, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Georgia, Greece, Mexico, Moldova, Turkey, Ukraine on May 05, 2022. The third event was in a blended format, where six students from France, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Vietnam, and Syria connected offline and online through MS Teams on May 19, 2022.
Every event featured a competitive quiz session on Kahoot. Hugo from the University of Barcelona, Spain, said: “I think it was an interesting event. Like many other events, it let us meet other international students and also get more in touch with the University and know more about Slovakia.” The students showed great passion for the questions about the history and geography of Slovakia, as well as the knowledge about the University of Economics in Bratislava. There was also a good selection of snacks and drinks available at the event. Marius from the University of Montpellier, France: “I think that it is great to have this type of event, I also think that it will be better next year if every student has face-to-face classes. I mean, there will be more people. I also think that there could be another activity like tasting snacks from different countries not only Slovakia.” The students felt at home and exchanged their Erasmus experiences here in Slovakia with each other.
Not only was Snack&Chat an event where students could socialize and get to know each other, but it also was an important channel for the International Mobility Department to collect firsthand feedback from the students. Bektore from Marmara University, Turkey concluded: “Thanks to this event, the International Relations Office tried to find solutions by evaluating the problems we encountered during our education process at the university.” Mr. Boris Mattoš, Vice-rector for International Relations, Ms. Miroslava Darnadiová, Deputy head of the International Mobility Department, and Ms. Laura Danielová, Coordinator for Incoming Students greeted and conversed with all attendees. The students shared their study experience at EUBA, talked about the benefits of the department’s social media accounts, and gave their ideas on how the work can be improved in the future.
