The summer semester of the academic year 2022/2023 welcomed 112 incoming exchange students from 17 countries all over the world. The traditional event, Welcome Week, invites incoming exchange students to experience a week full of activities from 6.2.2023 – 12.2.2023.

Students from France (e.g. NEOMA Business School) with the largest student representation, Spain (e.g. Alcalá University) or Finland (e.g. Hanken School of Economics), and other European countries, and students from outside of the EU such as Vietnam (National Economics University (NEU)), South Korea (SolBridge International School of Business), India, and others came to experience the summer semester at the University of Economics in Bratislava.

The very first day of the event took place on Monday, February 6th, 2023, in the Assembly Hall of the University of Economics in Bratislava. The incoming exchange students received warm greetings from Deputy Head of Department of International Mobility, Miroslava DARNADIOVÁ, following the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Boris MATTOŠ.

On this day students experienced a little part of the Slovak culture with the performance of the folk group FS Ekonóm. Furthermore, they were provided with information about what to do in Bratislava, along with the best places to visit in the whole of Slovakia, thanks to the presentation led by Juraj BUDAY from the Bratislava Tourist Board. The ESN EU Bratislava (Erasmus Student Network) representative prepared a campus tour and the day wrapped up with a welcome brunch where students had a chance to Snack&Chat and get to know each other and meet potential new friends.

The second day of the Welcome Week will take place in the Assembly Hall, where incoming exchange students will kick-start the room’s good mood with a small warm-up activity. Ms. Laura DANIELOVA, Coordinator for incoming students, will provide them with useful information about the summer semester and provide them with respective documents and administrative procedures. The ESN EU Bratislava representatives will talk about their role and how they could help students during their exchange. The students will also have the opportunity to play a quick Kahoot game to put their knowledge to test about what was said in the presentations, as well as to make their remaining questions.

A full week of activities will take place hoping to involve the exchange students so that the exchange summer semester at the University of Economics in Bratislava would be unforgettable.
