At the International Relations Office, a meetup with international students kicked off at 9 o’clock on Feb 28, 2022. Mgr. Laura DANIELOVÁ, the coordinator for incoming students, greeted the students and handed them welcome kits with two interns, Nadine HALILI and Yang HAN, currently working at the International Mobility Department.

Through the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) program, also known as KA107, EUBA has set up mobility agreements with our partners‘ universities around the world to receive students and staff from outside the EU. The Programme offers unique opportunities for exchange students to come to Slovakia and study at EUBA for one to two semesters.

This year, our KA107 students are from seven different countries - Georgia, Russia, China, South Korea, Syria, Vietnam, and Moldova. They first introduced themselves to each other during the meetup, followed by a discussion about their exciting Erasmus lives in Bratislava. When asked “why did you choose Slovakia”, the students shared their ideas. Marita from the University in Tbilisi „EUBA was closest to my study field, I was told that EUBA would be the best choice for me and they were right!“. Some of the students were motivated by Slovakia‘s central location in Europe and its mesmerizing natural sceneries; Marwa from Tishreen University, Syria mentioned, „Bratislava is a beautiful city, the nature, and the culture, I really like it here!“. Some others believe Slovakia is a nice country for a student to live in; Xinyu from the Ningbo University, China said, [Slovakia] has many beautiful mountains and many historic castles. Every time I walk along the Danube River, I feel very safe and peaceful.” DooWon from the SolBridge University, South Korea said, „The location of Slovakia is nice, being in central Europe, it is an ideal city for traveling around.“. Students from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Alexandra and Mariia said, „We chose this country primarily because the two countries share many things in common so we would not need to cope with cultural shocks!“.

So far, the students are very satisfied with their learning experience at EUBA although a vast majority of courses for exchange students are taught online. Ana from the University in Tbilisi „I am sure the knowledge gained here will bring me great success. I am motivated to make the most of the whole semester and learn well!“. The International Relations Office will be in close contact with these students to ensure a safe, memorable, and successful stay in Slovakia.
