On February 08th, 2021 the first day of Welcome Week took place for Incoming Exchange students via MS Teams. In the summer semester of the academic year 2020/2021 69 Incoming students from 10 European and North American countries will complete an exchange semester at the University of Economics in Bratislava. The gross of the students who came to EUBA through the Erasmus+ programme come from EU countries such as France, Italy, Germany or Spain. On the other hand, there are also students from Mexico, Russia or Switzerland studying through the bilateral cooperation.
At the beginning of the first day, Boris MATTOŠ, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, welcomed Incoming Exchange students. ‘‘I am convinced that international mobility represents a true personal enrichment, but it is also a benefit for the institution itself. Therefore, we appreciate that you have chosen the University of Economics in Bratislava for your exchange studies. International mobility significantly strengthens our international dimension and also contributes to the fulfillment of our mission and vision.’’. At the end, he wished the students a lot of health and success in their studies.
Incoming Exchange students were then introduced to the study procedures at EUBA. They were provided with practical information about study, administrative or organizational responsibilities, which were presented by the incoming student coordinator Laura DANIELOVA from the International Mobility Department of the Center for International Relations.
The Welcome Week program continued with the so-called "Ice-breaking games", where Incoming Exchange students were divided into teams to get to know each other better. Representatives of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN EU Bratislava) informed students about the planned events this semester. The first event will be a webinar focused on Slovakia which will be prepared by this student organization in cooperation with the International Mobility Department.
Foreign students had also the opportunity to take part in an interactive quiz that measured the level of engagement of the participants and resulted in three prize-winners. The winner was a student from Lithuania. This semester’s virtual Welcome Week event got to an end with a needed common reflection upon the international students’ own expectations for the upcoming semester and their time at EUBA.
